Decio Fernandes de Vasconcellos (born 1908) have founded the company, which currently ranks first in its industry. The DFV was founded in April 1941, in São Paulo (SP). The first 10 years were dedicated exclusively to the manufacture of military instruments, acquiring and developing technology in such areas as precision mechanics and optics, a pioneering initiative that laid the groundwork for the Brazilian independence in this sector.
From 1951 on, the company entered the civilian market, producing prismatic binoculars and magnifying glasses and some models of loupes, gradually evolving its production to reach a diverse line of high precision optical instruments, particularly for use in medicine.
Today, DFV stands by his active participation in developing the field of microsurgery in Brazil, starting by design of their first surgical microscope, launched in 1962. Over 50,000 surgical microscopes produced by DFV are now installed in hospitals and clinics in Brazil and 66 other countries.
In 2009, the company took a new direction. The new goals are to maintain the tradition of the company and improving for a better service in the demanding market of microsurgery. Supplying this segment all over the world. Keeping the continuous search for excellence in optical precision and reliability of equipment that has characterized the company since 1941.
DFV has just concluded the project of its new plant.
The entire productive process was designed in a logical format, in order to improve even more our products quality. The modern plant is coming to substitute with enhanced efficiency the old plant in São Paulo, which process was not supporting any longer the market demands.
The new plant is established in Valença, in Rio de Janeiro state. Valença is a city in between the 3 major market centers in Brazil (Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Belo Horizonte). This also means that it enable facilitating the exportation process of DFV.
